What is COPE?
The COPE platform provides outreach professionals with data-driven insights based on community overdose reporting and data ingested from several sources. It conveys crucial information about the epidemic’s impact on their communities, enabling them to better plan their efforts.
Why did we build COPE?
The opioid epidemic is a major health crisis raging across the United States. It was a severe issue before the COVID-19 pandemic and has only worsened since. In 2023 alone, 110,000 Americans died from opioid-related overdoses. While there are historical public data sources available on overdose-related deaths, there is a lack of real-time, aggregated data and scalable reporting systems. This prevents communities and first responders from reaching those who need it most.
State Agencies
COPE equips state agency researchers and stakeholders with critical data on overdose events across community, county, and state levels. Comprehensive yet flexible dashboards offer data visualizations via maps and graphs to facilitate effective planning and targeted prevention efforts.
Community Organizations
Community organizations receive detailed information about what is happening in their localities and can upload overdose event data in real time. By signing up with COPE, they gain access to valuable tools for managing their supplies and resources.
Residents and the General Public
Members of the general public can utilize COPE’s mobile app and website to report overdose events as they occur in their communities. It is this community-sourced data that uniquely powers the platform with near real-time, relevant data.
